Department of Chemistry was established in 2010 to undertake teaching at the undergraduate level where strong foundations are laid to facilitate scientific temper among the engineering graduates. It is one subject which gives adequate knowledge about applications involved in the aerospace, mechanical, environmental and other engineering fields. Knowledge of chemistry plays a vital role in engineering profession enabling the potential engineers to understand and to perform successful while working on multidisciplinary areas.  The teaching methodology is so unique and practical which creates interest among the students by excellent class room discussions and practical experience.

The Department has adequate infrastructure to run the under graduate courses. Faculty members of the Department are actively engaged in both teaching and Research work. The department also provides the theoretical and laboratory courses of Engineering Chemistry to 1st, 2nd semesters of I. B. Tech engineering undergraduates (B.Tech).

The strength of the department has been and continues to be excellence in research and teaching. The faculty is well qualified and motivated with a strong commitment towards research. Research in the department is symbiosis of different areas of chemistry ultimately leading to novel material development and applications in diverse areas. The areas of interest include synthesis, characterization, analytical techniques and etc.

The faculty member and Research scholars of the Department are devoted to research activities in different fields of chemistry viz.

It is pride to the department that our faculty members have recognized both national and international level. Numerous distinctions like Research Associate Award (CSIR), Dr. D. S. Kothari Postdoctoral fellowship (UGC), national academies have been conferred on the faculty. Morethan 13 research scholars are carrrying their research programme under the eminent guidance of the faculty and two students were awarded Ph. D. degree.
